it's back!

Today marks the first day of September and I couldn't be more excited ... bring on the fall weather! One item I am really looking forward to this season is the corduroy pant which is hotter than ever. The last time I remember wearing cords and it was "cool" was back in the A&F matching sweater and cord days. Yikes. Now, a bit more trendier, I prefer the skinny cord paired with a over the knee boots or even better military style boots. If boots aren't your thing, you must try the oxford shoe. What is on your must have fall list this year?

fur real

Seems like a trend these days that I am absent from blog posts for weeks on end, I apologize. Although  I am sad I haven't had the time to blog, it is all for good reason. This has been the busiest time for my business, I am starting to work on wedding projects (9 months to go!) and then of course my time in the evening is spent making sure my fiance has a clean home and warm meal on the table every night. I do promise to try harder to get to my blog, even if it is a short & quick entry.

With that said, fur is fur real this season. Okay, okay if you are a PETA lover/follower/advocate or are just an animal lover, faux fur is just as hot. I am particularly beyond thrilled about this trend as I continue to wear fur every winter regardless if it is in or not. I have always thought it to be so feminine and classic. Whether it be a fur jacket, boots, trim on gloves, a vest, or even a hat I am and have always been obsessed with this "trend." So if there is one thing to add to your fall/winter shopping list this coming season it's fur and lots of it.

just because you aren't a superhero doesn't mean you can't own a cape

This month has been insane. Closet consults, shopping trips, outfit planning, photo shoots, vacation packing ... the list goes on and on. But I must say my favorite by far is the pre-fall shopping trips I have been hired to embark on. As a child my mother would always take me back-to-school fall shopping in August as a way to celebrate my birthday which usually fell around the first day of school (not fun). So now, no matter my age, August comes around and I get the itch to start fall shopping again - thanks Mom for contributing to my habit! The very best part about the itch this year is the back-to-school tax holiday, I love you 5% tax, I really do. The only catch is the items need to be under $100 and the holiday ends August 16th, so get shopping. Anyway, one of my favorite items that made a reappearance from last season is the cape. Indoors or outdoors this will be a key item for fall. If you choose an outdoor cape you must be sure to also purchase a pair of opera length gloves in a fun print or color to cover those bare arms of yours. Looking to be a bit more trendy? Opt for the fingerless gloves but make sure you have a great mani and an even better color on those nails. Remember the tax holiday ends soon so get shopping.

it's wedding season!

As a guest of 13 weddings in the past two years, I know a lot about purchasing dresses for these events ... or I should say my wallet does. Unfortunately nowadays there is this thing called Facebook.com (have you heard of it?) that allows users to post photographs of themselves and friends for all to see. This means, even the clothes whore that I am, can not wear a dress twice to any weddings I attend which I'd like to do on occasion. There are two options for this dilemma if you are looking to save money. The first being RentTheRunway.com which I have blogged about in the past. Their motto is simple: love. wear. return. Carrying a selection of high end designer dresses and accessories, you can rent such items for a fraction of the cost and return them after your big event. If renting isn't your thing, I suggest investing in some serious statement pieces that will take your cocktail dress from drab to fab in seconds. So that black cocktail dress you have that is your go to wedding dress can be worn twice if you swap out your statement necklace, earrings and bracelet. The idea is that your jewelry is so showstopping no one will even notice you are wearing the same dress you wore two weeks ago at the last wedding. I have been loving Ann Taylor's selection of jewels lately, they are all so feminine and sparkly!

Viva Las Vegas

Sorry I have been MIA for the past week or so, life just seems to have gotten in the way. Damn it! I'm off to Vegas today to celebrate my best friend Kayleen's bachelorette party. Here are just a few Vegas must haves that will be in my suitcase.

Dress (1): French Connection
Heels (1): bebe
Dress (2): Simone
Heels (2): bebe

If you are planning a Vegas trip in the near future, I have a couple words of advice and no it has nothing to do with gambling. With the Vegas heat, the high heels and I'm sure plenty of walking and dancing you are bound to get at least one blister. Don't forget your Band-aid blister block and/or blister cushions. Gross, I know, but it is better to be comfortable than in pain.

beautiful on the inside and out

When recently asked on a shopping trip with a client "why do you do what you do?" The answer was very simple: I enjoy making people look and feel amazing when getting dressed. There is something about the way you feel when you know a particular outfit is very flattering and compliments your body shape well. I am the queen of assisting others in getting dressed and getting dressed well. Now when it comes to getting undressed, I turn to DuMi Shapewear to help my clients look and feel amazing while getting dressed and undressed. "Each style is designed to shape, smooth and sculpt your problem areas while making you look and feel as gorgeous as you do in your favorite lingerie." Which means one thing and one thing only, your fear of getting busted for wearing shapewear is long gone my friends. Let's face it, you aren't wearing the same clothes as your 80 year old grandmother, there is no reason to be wearing the same shapewear as her too.

wrinkles? what wrinkles?

As a "kid," okay maybe high schooler, I was sun obsessed. The thought of being pale was more terrifying than the thought of wearing the same shirt in one week ... and we all know how scary that can be to a high school girl especially the one named "most fashionable" of her class. Not okay. Nowadays I'm over that phase in my life ... well sort of. I just try and do things healthier, you know sunless tanners, sunscreen, hats, etc. This girl wants to keep her wrinkle free face (alright I have a few on my forehead) wrinkle free forever which is why I love these hats. I will be in Vegas celebrating my best friends bachelorette party in 3 weeks and you most definitely will find me lounging by the pool with sunscreen on and a cool summer hat.

Stay pretty my friends and wrinkle free!
